I finally found Ian's phone number  from when he rang me about a year ago. that number could not be connected. I hope that is because he has changed phones.

God bless you all my dear friends.

Kerrie

Good Afternoon. This Is Donald Hamilton (Ian's Son). I with the gravest of hearts wish to inform all of Dad's friends that on Saturday night at approximately 9pm he lost his battle to cancer. He past away peice fully at home, as was his wish! A private cremation will be held and his ashes will be scattered on his beloved Gemfeilds as per his request. I am sure in all the forums and writers clubs/groups he was a part of he will be as missed as he is by his family and friends! My apologies for this news being so late in coming, my Father kept both sides of his life separate and have only just found access to his facebook! I still do not know how to access Funwriters to make notification there, if anyone could please help me on that It would be greatly appreciated! Again I am sorry for the loss we have all suffered and he will be sadly missed.
Don Hamilton.

Thank you, Don, for letting us know.  One of our members called Rubyvale and found out the sad news about your dad a few days ago.  It was expected for Ian hadn't posted for almost a month, but it was still a shock.  As one of our members put it, "I thought he would live forever."

Ian loved his gemmie fields and the Outback, and Australia was very dear to him.  I can think of no other place for him to be.

I've lost a dear old friend of over fifteen years and it's left a hole in my heart.  He called me 'his chum' and that put a broad smile on my face.  I'll never forget him.

I can picture the ever-present grin on his face as he turns and walks off into the Outback whistling Waltzing Matilda.

Vale, my chum.
