Title: Ned Kelly
Post by: Ian H on January 27, 2014, 01:52:53 PM
Ned Kelly was a revolutionary or thief depending what side you are on. But not only did he have a major effect on Australia but he gave the world something else. Can any one tell me what that was?

I think he got the idea from the knights of old. But I'll give you a clue. Last night I watched Mystery Road.

But Ed that isn't why his story has been so important. Have you been to the movies lately?

Honestly, I rarely go to movies anymore.  I enjoyed drive-ins but I detest indoor theaters with their crowds and noise.  When drive-ins became passe, I stayed home and watched movies on tv.

Ed - I go to the movies a lot!  I go to the senior show - 1pm for $2.00 - sometimes I'm the only one there.  There is nothing like a big screen!

Ok
I'll put you out of your misery. The first ever full length feature film was the 'Adventures of Ned Kelly'

Hor those that are interested a clip from the first ever feature film.

http://aso.gov.au/titles/features/story-kelly-gang/clip3/ (http://aso.gov.au/titles/features/story-kelly-gang/clip3/) Not really good but remember it's 112 years old.

Ed - it was Mick Jagger's attempt to be an actor.  The story was a good one but the acting was atrocious.  The last stand scene is so badly done that it is more than hysterical.  it wass supposed to show the futility he faced and it was more of a comedy.  I think it is still available on Net Flicks.  Watch it for the story not the acting!  Mick should stick to singing!

The Mick Jagger version was the third Ned Kelly movie and more than half a century after the original. I can't comment on it as the intent of the film was an attempt to make a national hero a joke and I was part of the boycott.

It was shot in 1902 but not shown internationally to 1906.

Only parts of it exists now. It is interesting for another reason the film was shot on a film made by a Coburg Vic chemist named Kodak who later on sold the process to the American Eastman corp.
